The Miami Heat: Playoff Bound?

The Miami Heat are in the run for the Playoffs right now. They have a 32-32 record and are at the same level as the Bobcats (31-31) and the Bulls (31-32). The Raptors (32-30) and the Bucks (34-29) have both broken away from the pack and will both most likely make the playoffs. One of the three teams competing for the playoffs (Heat, Bobcats and Bulls) won’t get in. The Heat, I believe, will be in at the 7th position in the East. They have won their last three of their last four games (against the Warriors, Lakers and Hawks) which is a good sign.

We are coming to the close of the regular season, so winning three of four gives your team momentum. Beating the #2 team in the NBA, the Lakers, and the #4 team in the east, the Hawks, is very impressive. It shows that the Heat are not only capable of making the playoffs but can make a big push.

Dwayne Wade remains the key to the Heat’s success. He is a top 5 scorer in the NBA, and was this year’s All-Star game MVP. After Wade, Micheal Beasley is the go to guy for Miami. Beasley has had an up and down season. He’s had games where he’s been Wade’s right hand man and put up big numbers, and others where he leaves the weight on Jermaine O’Neal and Quentin Richardson. For the Heat to have a good run, Beasley will need to play well consistently. Jermaine O’Neal will also have to be a big force in the paint. I predict the Heat will get the 7th spot and get to at least the 2nd round of the playoffs. I also project the Bobcats will make the Playoffs at the 8th spot and the Bulls will miss the post season.
