Cavs After the All-Star Break

Posted on 27 February 2010 by Shane Davis

The Cavs had a tough start to the second half of the season. They lost three games in a row coming off of the All-Star break. They first lost to Denver on TNT Thursday in a very close game that went into overtime. They then followed this up with an unexpected loss to the Charlotte Bobcats and then to the Orlando Magic. This was their first three-game losing streak in over a year. The Cavs have acquired some new players after the All-star break including Antawn Jamison, formerly of the Wizards.

Jamison has had a tough start with his new team, going 0 for 12 from the field in his debut. He needed some time to adjust to the team’s playing style, which is a little different than how it was in Washington.

Snce his first game, however, he has been playing much smoother with the team and is putting up numbers close to his numbers earlier this season (20 PPG).

The Cavaliers are now on a three-game winning streak including a big win over the Boston Celtics. They seem to have regained their momentum and another drought is not likely. Mo Williams has returned from his shoulder injury, and after a slow start he is now averaging 20 points per game like he had before the injury. The whole team seems to be working well together now and everyone is healthy wih the exception of the ailing Shaquille O’Neal.

They still remain the best team in the NBA with a league best 46-14 record. The Cavaliers are going to become Eastern Conference champions, if not NBA Champions. They certainly have the roster to do so, and the only Eastern Conference team standing in their way is the Boston Celtics. Neither the Hawks or the Magic will beat Cleveland in a playoff series. Right now, the only team that you could argue is better than the Cavaliers is the Lakers. Lebron James and the Cavs deserve a championship, and if Jamison can help dominate in the playoffs along with Lebron, who we know will play well, the Cavs have the best shot at the Championship.
